Thinking of giving MTB a go: Top 5 Tips
04/12/2020Dirt Factory Indoor Bike Park Survey
11/03/2021I hope this message finds you safe and well.
You may or may not be aware we had to make the difficult decision to close the Dirt Factory Pop-Up site in Manchester much earlier than planned. Our landlord (U+i) regretfully informed us that they had been awarded £23m from the governments Getting Building Fund. This meant that the redevelopment work around the pop-up site was going to start much sooner than planned.
The announcement of the third national lockdown was then enough to call it a day and close the pop-up bike park. We are now working very hard behind the scenes on a number of relocation opportunities which we hope to share with you when we have more concrete news.
On the bright side, the Dirt Factory Pop-Up has provided us with lots of amazing experiences and was everything we had hoped for and much more. We welcomed over 30,000 people of all ages, ability and background and to see such a varying customer base has been staggering.
Highlights include the Trek downhill team event, Matt Jones and Rob Warners Red Bull film premiere, Gowaan Thurdsay sessions, Farmer Johns in the City Jam, kids coaching and learn to jump coaching sessions and many private hire events with the likes of Steel City Rippers, Bruntwood BMX club, Wrekin Riders and many more. The pop-up space also delivered other amazing activities such as up-cycling workshops with primary schools using recovered bikes from Greater Manchester Police, bike repair workshops with Cycling UK and outreach projects with One Manchester housing association.
Watching people having a good time using the air bag, flow around the indoor trails or just chin wagging next to the pump track has been amazing to witness. The place seemed to mass produce positivity, and it’s been a delight to have been a part of that. The Dirt Factory team and I would like to thank all our customers and partners for the continued support and for believing in the Dirt Factory Pop-Up and our team. We have learnt so much and we can’t wait to have the opportunity to construct a larger and enhanced facility.
Wishing you all the best in 2021.
Dan and the Dirt Factory team.
