Our Modular Pump Track Is Rolling Across the UK
07/05/2026
There’s a new favourite spot in the playground at Riverside Primary School – and it’s already proving to be a huge hit with pupils.
We recently installed one of our Pump Track Roller straights at the school, creating a fun, engaging and inclusive riding feature that helps children develop balance, coordination and bike handling skills in a safe environment.
From balance bikes and scooters to mountain bikes, pump track rollers provide a simple but highly effective way for children to learn how to generate momentum, improve confidence and enjoy being active outdoors.
Instant Playground Success
The feedback from Riverside has been fantastic. Business Manager and Clerk to the Governing Body, Katy Taylor, summed it up perfectly:
“I just wanted to say how fantastic our Pump Track is! The children LOVE it.”
And judging by the smiles on pupils’ faces, we couldn’t agree more.
The installation has already attracted interest from local partners and funding organisations, with the North East Combined Authority exploring opportunities to visit the school and potentially support future cycling initiatives. The school is also working with local communications teams to showcase the positive impact the track is having on pupils.

Why Schools Are Investing in Pump Track Rollers
More schools are recognising the value of cycling infrastructure as part of their outdoor learning and active play provision. Pump track rollers offer:
- Improved balance and coordination through natural movement based learning.
- Increased physical activity during breaktimes and PE sessions.
- Confidence building for children learning to ride.
- Inclusive play opportunities for a wide range of ages and abilities.
- A compact footprint, making them ideal for school playgrounds and hardstanding areas.
Riverside Primary School selected the pump track rollers with future expansion in mind. Thanks to the modular design, the installation can be expanded at any time with additional rollers, berms and jump features, giving schools the flexibility to start with a solution that suits their current space and budget while keeping the door open for a larger riding facility in the years ahead.
Bringing Cycling Culture Into Schools
With active travel, bikeability and outdoor wellbeing high on the agenda for many schools, pump track features are a practical investment that delivers lasting value. They create an exciting focal point for cycling activities while supporting broader objectives around health, confidence and physical literacy.
We’re delighted to see Riverside Primary School embracing cycling and active play, and we look forward to following their journey as more children discover the joy of riding.
