Last orders at the Dirt Factory pop-up

Our time at Mayfield is coming to an end but we’re delighted to announce a short extension that will give you a chance to ride inside for a few more months yet.

The Dirt Factory bike park at Mayfield was always a temporary facility – part of a community of micro-businesses bringing industry, leisure and creativity back to a historic part of Manchester. Dirt Factory teamed up with Mayfield developers U+I to create a pop-up indoor bike park on the site of a disused industrial unit before redevelopment takes place. We got the keys in late 2018 and set about creating a condensed version of what we want Dirt Factory to be – a fun and progressive indoor bike park that appeals to riders of all ages and abilities.

The Dirt Factory pop-up bike park has been everything we hoped it would be and much more. We’ve welcomed thousands of riders who have had fun, progressed their skills, gained confidence, made new friends and built a community. We’re proud of what’s been achieved and extremely grateful to U+I and the Mayfield Partnership for enabling Dirt Factory to utilise the site before redevelopment takes place. I would also like to thank every one of our customers, staff members, volunteers, supporters and partners for making the Dirt Factory pop-up a huge success and giving us extra motivation for our next goal.

Behind the scenes, the Dirt Factory team is working hard to secure a permanent home in much bigger premises. We’re aiming to secure a site in Greater Manchester that will be at least three times bigger than the Dirt Factory pop-up. The larger space will allow us to construct lots more progressive trails, zones and features, along with a bigger bike shop, cafe, rental space, education suite and much more. We’ve learnt a lot from the Dirt Factory pop-up and, together with our existing plans and rider feedback, we cannot wait to create a bigger, better facility for riders, friends, families and groups to enjoy.

Our two-year tenure at Mayfield was due to come to an end next month but we’ve secured a short extension until at least the end of January 2021. As long as no further COVID-19 restrictions come in to force in December, we will remain open and hope you can visit us for a few more rides before our pop-up doors close for good.
