20/09/2018New Year Trails
07/01/2019The Mossley Light Festival is a one night spectacle where people come together and parade creative lanterns made in all shapes and sizes. Sadly, this year’s event was close to not going ahead due to a devastating mill fire in March that destroyed all the lanterns. In true Mossley fashion, people pulled together and worked night and day to make sure the show could still go on. This is thanks to The Vale, Global Grooves, Mossley Town Council, Mossley Sports Forum and plenty of support from volunteers.
Light bulb moment
When Dirt Factory heard the light festival was still going ahead, but extra support was going to be needed, we had a light bulb moment (pun intended). Bikes have never featured at the Mossley Light Festival before, especially ones with lots of flashy lights attached to them. So we reached out to the Mossley community to see who would be interested in taking part in a Dirt Factory light workshop to decorate bikes and helmets. The results were amazing!

We limited the number of riders to six as it was really only an experiment, but it was quite clear there was a much bigger appetite. So next year if we get the opportunity to light up our bikes again, we will increase the numbers. This should also make for a much more wowing experience for all onlookers if there is a mass of riders dazzling the crowds with spinning wheels and bike tricks.
If anyone fancies taking part in this event next year, either as a volunteer or one of our bike riders armed with lights and batteries, then just get in touch below or send us a message on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and one of the Dirt Factory team will get back to you.
Can we give a huge thank you to all the light riders who took part.
May the light be with you.
The Dirt Factory team.
