Trail Works Complete
20/07/2021
It’s been a long time coming, but Phillips Park Mountain Bike Trail in Bury (not to be confused with Clayton Vale in Manchester), is finally going to be treated to some fresh dirt, well half of the trail is at least, read on.
We’re delighted to announce that Dirt Factory has been instructed as the preferred contractor to bring some life back into 1.5km of trail. On offer is a 3.5km figure of eight trail which locally is known as the north loop and south loop. It is the south loop which we will be reshaping and resurfacing. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough funding to repair the north loop as well, but hopefully Bury council will be able to get this sorted soon, because it really needs it.
Huge drainage issues Wear and tear
The trails were originally built in 2012 and have received next to no maintenance since, so the poor trail condition shouldn’t come as a surprise. Phillips Park MTB trail is situated just off junction17 on the M60 and meanders between a beautiful nature reserve. The best postcode to use is M45 7QJ.
The south loop was chosen because it is slightly longer than the north loop and has a jump line plus various berms and other cool trail features. The Dirt Factory trail crew have been very excited about getting spades in the ground so we can do what we love most, building and shaping new trail.
Our team will be on site for 5 weeks so during this time the south loop will be closed. Please do not attempt to ride the south loop during construction because this will only slow down our crew but also the dirt will be soft and no fun to ride until it’s been compacted and had time to settle.
Once complete we are hoping to work alongside Nationwide Cycling Academy and Bury Council to host a launch event. We may even bring our air bag down to add more fun.
We will keep you posted on our social media channels regarding progress. Stay safe.
