12/04/2021Phillips Park Trail, Face-lift
24/05/2021Dr. Bike events exist to help anyone begin or return to cycling through a series of free cycle repair sessions in partnership with Cycling UK.
Who are Dr.Bike sessions for?
The programme is for people returning to cycle or those starting as a complete beginner. In other words, it’s for people who do not cycle on a regular basis; those cycling less than once every two weeks.
What do I need to do?
Bring your bike along and get it checked out by our qualified mechanic who will make any necessary minor adjustments including fixing minor repairs. You just need to wait a maximum of 30 minutes and your bike will be ready.
How does it work?
Sessions are funded by Cycling UK, the programme is called the Big Bike Revival. It’s purpose is to get more people cycling more often. Due to budget, time and Covid-19 constraints, if you book a ticket you will notice an allocated time slot. It’s important that you turn up on time with your bike in order to not miss your session. As soon as you pass your bike over to our mechanic, the necessary checks and minor repairs will be carried out. A maximum of 30 minutes can be spent on one bike.
What are minor repairs?
On the day the type of repairs achievable are;
- Puncture repairs / new inner tubes
- Gear indexing
- Brake alignment and/or adjustment
- De-greasing, and chain lubrication
- Bolt checks and tightening
- M-checks
- Recommendations
Where do I go?
The Dirt Factory Bike Shop is located at Farmer Johns MTB Park, Marple Bridge, SK6 5EN. There is an on site (free) car park so you can park close by to the bike shop in order to drop you bike off. Due to Covid-19 you will have to wait outside of the bike shop until your bike is ready for collection.
Note: Bikes cannot be left at the shop due to space and Covid-19 restrictions.
