New Modular Pumptrack Installation at Marsh Gibbon Playground: A Hit with the Community
07/10/2024Dirt Factory Welcomes New Brand Ambassadors
22/11/2024Westmorland and Furness Council recently teamed up with Dirt Factory to bring an exciting new project to the local community. The council hired the Dirt Factory mobile pumptrack for a one-week trial with the goal of giving residents a taste of what a permanent facility could offer.
What is a Pumptrack?
For those unfamiliar, a pumptrack is a continuous loop of berms and rollers that can be ridden by bikes, scooters, skateboards, and more. It’s designed to let users “pump” through the track, using their body movements rather than pedaling, to maintain speed. It’s a fun and active way for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy a thrilling outdoor experience, promoting physical activity and community engagement.
The Goal: A Permanent Pumptrack for Westmorland and Furness
The council wanted to assess the benefits of having a permanent pumptrack in the area. The one-week trial was an opportunity to collect feedback from the community, understand the demand, and evaluate the positive impacts it could have on residents. By bringing the Dirt Factory pumptrack to the area, the council hoped to see firsthand how well received such a project would be.
A Week of Fun and Community Engagement
The pumptrack was set up in a local park, and for seven days, it became a hotspot of activity. Children, teens, and even adults flocked to the track, with many getting their first experience of this exciting sport. The trial was free for anyone to enjoy, and a variety of bikes and helmets were made available to encourage maximum participation.
The energy around the pumptrack was amazing throughout the week. Families came together, children learned new skills, and people connected in a shared love for outdoor fun. It wasn’t just about the thrill of the ride but also about bringing the community closer together in a healthy and interactive environment.
Overwhelmingly Positive Feedback
The project was a great success, with both the council and local residents giving enthusiastic feedback. Many residents expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting how it provided a fun and engaging way for kids to stay active, especially in an era when outdoor activities are more important than ever.
Parents praised the safe yet exciting environment, while young riders couldn’t stop talking about the fun they had and how they would love to see a permanent pumptrack in the area. Some even mentioned that it inspired them to take up biking or other outdoor sports more regularly.
What’s Next?
Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response from the trial, Westmorland and Furness Council is now considering the feasibility of installing a permanent pumptrack in the area. The feedback collected during the trial will play a vital role in shaping the future of this project, and there’s a strong possibility that the residents of Westmorland and Furness could soon be riding on their very own track.
At Dirt Factory, we’re thrilled to have been a part of this initiative and are excited about the potential for a permanent pumptrack that can continue to benefit the community for years to come.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development. If the trial was anything to go by, Westmorland and Furness could soon be home to a fantastic new space for outdoor fun, fitness, and community building.
