With the summer holidays in full swing what better way to get the kids (and adults) outside and active than three days of Dirt Factory’s mobile pump track at Stoneleigh Park in Derker, Oldham.
Despite the wet weather as we set up on the first day, it was fantastic to see the turnout of eager bikers of all ages and stages joining us on track over the three days. From three year olds on balance bikes to over fifties it really was great to see not only a variety of ages but also the diverse backgrounds of the riders. Some brought their own bikes and others borrowed some of Dirt Factory’s. What was the most important thing was that every single person was having fun, being active and having a go. All things that echo Dirt Factory’s values.
The feedback we received over the three days was really positive with many riders asking when we’d be back again. Over the three days we saw over 140 participants on the bike track.
Ovid of the Detached team for Oldham Council and one of the organisers local Councillor for the St James Ward Angela Cosgrove said “The sessions were really well attended by the local community, whole families and kids. An extra session was paid by Friends of Stoneleigh Park as it was so very popular. Great to see families and children taking part and socialising with one another.” It was also interesting to learn about some of the other community initiatives going on at the park after speaking to some of the Friends of Stoneleigh Park (FOSP), which do really set the bar high when it comes to a local community working together.
Thanks to all the organisers and participants for a great three days. Keep an eye on out social media channels for further sessions that may happen in Oldham in the future.
