Helping More People to Cycle
08/04/2022
The Dirt Factory Events crew has teamed up with MCR Active and Heaton Park to run both Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) sessions and open taster sessions for the wider public using the Dirt Factory Modular Pump Track.
HAF is a free holiday activity and enrichment programme to support children who receive free school meals. The aim of the HAF programme is to support children and their families to eat more healthily, be more active over the school holidays and have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition as well as be more engaged with school and other local services.
NOTICE: HAF sessions must be booked in advance, booking details can be found here.
Cycling and off-road cycling in particular is an amazing and very rewarding hobby to get into, and lots of fun. If you are thinking about giving Mountain Biking (MTB) or BMX a try, you should definitely come down to Heaton Park and talk to our very passionate and knowledgeable events team who will be happy to give you lots of tips and advice about accessing our very friendly sport.
Please see details below if you are interested in either the HAF or public taster sessions. The track will be kept on site for longer than the HAF funded sessions as an Easter activity for Heaton visitors costing £2 for an hours session. To ride the pump track you must have a bike in good working order and with a working rear brake as a minimum. Helmets are mandatory and must be worn at all times when riding the pump track. The Dirt Factory team will have a small number of bikes and helmets available for people to use but please note that when it gets busy, the team may have to ask for the equipment back in order for other people to have a go. The Dirt Factory team will not let any person use the pump track if under the influence of drugs or alcohol or if personal bike and equipment is deemed unsafe. Participants must abide by the pump track rules at all times displayed on site.
