16/06/2022Part One: Pump Track on the Road
17/08/2022One of the toughest and most fun enduro mountain bike races of the year has blessed the Yorkshire moorland once again. Ard Rock MTB Festival offers various race and stage options, if you’re up for the challenge in 2023 make sure you get your tickets early, they always sell out very quickly.
Aside from the racing you can test out plenty of decent bikes on purpose built demo tracks which are built with a keen eye for flow, speed and technical all in one trail. The demo tracks are definitely worth exploring if you are new to enduro racing. There is also plenty to feast your eyes on in the bike bling department. All the top brands are fully exposed within the festival arena showcasing all the latest gear and tech, a biker’s heaven if you’re into that sort of thing.
Let’s not forget to mention the Dirt Factory Pump Track and Air Bag Jump, which are free to use for anyone attending Ard Rock, which are both managed by the Dirt Factory Events crew. The pump track is lot’s of fun and very popular with the younger riders, although plenty of adults do ride the pump track if they can get their kids off it. The Air Bag is open to all those looking at perfecting their jumping and trick skills, and is always a big highlight for riders and spectators, especially when the odd back flip is thrown. Also this year was the addition of a Hope Academy bike skills zone and FunDuro for the young riders, which was very cool.
Another new addition to Ard Rock 22 was the Dyebro Long Jump Challenge which basically involved sending it as far as you can off a MTB Hopper ramp. The longest jump claimed the ramp which was worth around eight hundred quid, not bad. The winning jump was insanely long, so hats off to the winner. Hopefully the long jump will become a solid staple for future Ard Rocks because the crowd seemed to love it.
Finally, thank you to all the wonderful people who visited our portable pump track and jumped the Dirt Factory Air Bag. The future for MTB and its friendly community is looking strong. Also, a big shout out to young Kalvin who won the Maxxis Pump Track Battle on the Saturday night, definitely a rider to look out for. Kalvin was super consistent and he handled the pressure from the onlooking crowd like a trooper. Well done Kalvin, we hope your new Maxxis Tyres are helping you ride even faster.
Until next time Ard Rock, over and out.
