02/08/2022What is a ‘Bike Library’? Bike libraries are local hubs that allow people to borrow a bicycle, like borrowing a book, which you then hand back. The aim is to boost access to cycling and take advantage of developing infrastructure, offering communities the chance to kick-start their own sustainable ‘bike library’.
What type of bikes are available? There are smaller bikes for children between 114cm and 150cm. Small to Extra Large adult bikes for people between 5’2″ and 6’4″. Plus 2 x Bromptom bikes which are one size, foldable and ideal for commuting. There are only a limited number available of each.
What comes with the bike? If you do not have your own helmet, one will be provided which you must return along with the bike. Any additional equipment you think you may need such as hand pump, puncture repair kit, lights, hi-vis jacket, gloves, waterproof jacket etc – is your responsibility.
What happens if the bike I want is not available? You will be added onto a reserve list for that particular bike and you will be contacted when the bike is brought back by the previous borrower.
